Hello friends, I am feeling like myself again after a horrible sinus infection and flu. It really kicked my butt and knocked me out for a few days you know the drill ... fever, chills, aches and the worst of it sinus pressure! Honestly this one took a toll on me. I need Spring now more than ever, and this weekend with the good weather we got a glimpse of it & I am very happy about that. Here is hoping I am "out of the woods" with this flu business.
With that said I am a tad backed up with the weeks for my PL album being sick and both our kiddos in Hockey playoffs and tournaments (so exciting and LOVE it) it's no wonder I haven't cracked open my album - no worries, I am going to get at that all soon & so here my friends here is Week Five!
Above I started this "month mark" with a vellum 6x8 print out I made with Paislee Press brushes, you can find that here. I then added the "F" that is a chipboard from ABM kit found here. I adhered the letter with my adhesive roller (e-z runner). So we are into the 2nd month already here in my Album and I know I am loving the 6x8 STILL and pages are flowing.
That's it for Week Five, I Totally need to remember how to be present in these albums (on going lesson). I recently found a hidden treasure, our family camcorder and there it held multiple tapes of us and the kiddos some going as far back as me showing off my 1st baby bump pregnant with Ethan 12 years ago, whoa 12 years! Then we found some of both kiddos Ava was now born and already three ... we laughed at the moments on tape, I cried as I know how fast they are growing up that's normal feeling to get when you are reminded how we once looked ... but it was so hard for me to process all that has changed both good and bad in between the years. I am BLESSED !
Long story short, I am now more than ever reminded to keep recording, documenting this life of ours - we only get to do this once and even if we think we are not doing such a good job sometimes - keep the camera on ... don't miss the years. Thanks for reading!
Project Life is a Memory keeping system created by Becky Higgins you can find more info here, never too late to start documenting your story!
Project Life 2016 | Week four. Back at it another week of Hockey and school and Work. Another week of gathered stories and making plans and being right here.
So I am keeping on with the 6x8 size my thoughts on that are this ... LOVING. although I still adore 9x12 and that was a great gradual switch to make as I went smaller. I am also loving the Kelly Purkey Stamp set I bought that's the "we loved this" on the 3x4 of Ethan's hockey game.
"We were here" stamp is also Kelly Purkey stamp. I first stamped on scrap paper then used my tiny attacher to adhere it. I also used a flip pocket this week it's under the "right now" card from paislee press.
I am a big fan of flip pockets - they are so handy to have if you need extra space in a pinch. In this week's case I wanted to add a few words of "right now" without giving up the other cards.
There it is Week four, That ends January ... so far so good 2016!
December 3rd | Hey guy's today I am sharing my DD again and we are starting here with Day 3. The main story of today was that I purchased our Starwars tickets online pre-ordered for a later date in December for me and Ethan. The excitement once I picked him up and told him that we are going to STARWARS - He was more than thrilled to know I bought our tickets.
I used The number three card from the AE DD kit. Attached a stamped strip and wood veneer that I stamped on with Staz-on ink.
I used the back of that 3x4 card adhered back to back + punched holes in again, I like the loose cards out of pockets. This "Ah Yeah" Card is also from AE DD kits. Date stamped and journaled with sharpie pen.
December 4th | Full view of these day's together and to the right I went straight into day four's story again using a kit card as the divider + wood tree veneer but also included a metal rim tag that I adhered pattern paper and a cork number four to it made the top hole a little bigger and placed in the album rings.
The flip side of the 3x4 pattern card I adhered this Paislee press card from DD past kit's Stamped + journaled + gold heart stapled on.
Story of today hanging out with Ava.
Flip side of the 4x6 photo of Ava I adhered this photo I took of the Ornaments I was looking through to see which ones we were going to out on the tree and which ones that Ava wanted to put on her tree. I used a pattern paper trimmed up into 3x4 and journaled our story in pencil.
December fifth | Flip to the pink pattern paper I adhered this LLP freebie and a veneer # 5. on the 3x4 card.
I Love this day, The hunt for our Family Christmas tree. I added this 4x6 one of Ava running down the rows of trees looking for the right one.
Flip side of the 4x6 is the photo I always take at this tree lot, and always love it in the albums. To the right I took the receipt of our tree and stapled it to the vellum paper underneath it and used another LLP paper card journaled with pencil again.
You can see here that I made that vellum 3x4 card with the receipt on it as a divider almost then placed a photo of Ava by the huge snowman in the left side 3x4 page protector pocket.
December sixth | Our story today was us going to our annual holiday Skate at the MTS centre. We all look forward to this event every December!
Using the number card from the AE DD kit again.
The flip side of that 3x4 number card I wanted to tell more story here so I typed it up in PS and then printed it out on cardstock.
Flip side of the 4x6 photo of me and kiddos is the kiddos and the official NHL mascot Micky Moose. Ava was pretty pleased that we got another photo with him this year.
This wraps up 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 of the book and honestly I am more into this book than past years maybe it was the approach? Maybe I am just really more aware of how fast these years are going and how different things will look again in a few years. Thanks for reading again.
For more info on DD go check out Ali Edwards. Thanks again and Happy Thursday!!
Hi Guy's I am finished my December daily 2015 Album, and although it's now February ... it feels so good to have waited, to take a slower approach, and to really enjoy these days as they were gathering all the stories and then making this album. I also welcomed this approach after two days of documenting and sharing here, I stoped on day 3 as I had a change of heart with my album size ... out of no where.
Go with the flow, I didn't want to "forget" this project as it sat on my work table but I didn't want to put day to day on the back burner either, I wanted to be present, as these days came and to be honest my working on this book long after December was surprisingly very enjoyable. Remembering your stories either as they are in present or later on as long as they are told. Here is our story of December 2015 ...
Opening page here I used a large wood veneer about 3 x 3.5 in size from Michaels craft store during their holiday ornaments display. I Adhered it to the transparent pattern page from one of my Beautiful mess kits (cut down from larger size). I love how this starts the album off with a great reminder.
Here is the next page I took that "cheers" clear embelishment and adhered it to another clear circle transparent page & adding in another round photo at the bottom.
Here is what it looks like on the flip side.
I wanted to add in some thoughts before starting off this book, I added an AE "stories matter to me because" brush at the top page then typed out my December thoughts. Wood veneer added.
December 1st | Here we go day one of this month and today was spent with coffee (like all good days do) & putting up the kiddos trees in their rooms. I took a Instax photo of Ava's tree in her room and paper clipped it to the 3x4 card.
Here you can see the other side of that 3x4 on the left showing the date, on the right is a 4x6 of Ava's tree in her room. Adding in tag and AE stamp on side, stapled with tiny attacher.
On the other side of Ava's tree photo is the 4x6 of our Advent Santa and a 3x4 photo of Ava's drawing of Santa. She made this drawing I scanned it into my computer and in PS made it into 3x4 printed on photo paper.
On the other side of Ava's drawing I adhered this calendar from the DD kit. adding a wood veneer tree. Then I added in another 4x6 transparent circle paper with this tag (I found this designer on pinterest will look up the link). Added the baker's twine black and white and tiny attacher staple.
This page leads us into Day Two.
On the flip side of that tag page I added another tag on the back .
December 2nd | I used the 3x4 number card and punched holes in the cards stitching it to another 3x4 card first. AE stamp tag on the side.
On the flip side of the 3x4 card I adhered Ethan's photo from the shoot I did with the kiddos for our family cards, They were good sports about it. Adhered with my tape runner found here & again punched the holes right in the photo. In between these photo's I put another transparent page with wood veneer tree ( spoiler - you will see a lot of these ).
LOVING all the LAYERS that this album is building.
Same thing here for Ava taking her 3x4 photo and punching holes right through the photo paper. Tag on the side.
On the flip side of Ava's photo I wanted to add in some space for journaling - the story of today. To the right is a 4x6 of how my custom cards turned out made with AE brushes in PS and ran through my printer at home.
So far that wraps up December 1 & 2. I will be sharing more tomorrow. thanks for reading! For more info on December Daily you can check out Ali Edwards (AE) here.
Hello friends today I am sharing my Project Life 2016 | Week three. Above is the view of the spread of my 6x8 album. On the left page is a collage of 2x2's of the weeks IG + my camera roll photo's I made and printed them all on the 6x8 photo paper - at home.
Here is the collage close up. I like that I did this week a little differently then past by cutting up the 2x2's to put into the page pockets - I still like that method but keeping this all as one page and then I used my adhesive roller on the back and adhered to the previous weeks back, Which was a 4 (3x4) pocket page.
This Week - I made a list of this weeks highlights with Midnight Edition card digital kit so I was able to go into PS and add text to the card it reads ... This Week
That wraps up week three, Loving the flexibility of trying new things and that adding text on the cards to allow for more story to be told is one way, another is adding in little weekly treasures like that parking receipt. Here is to another week + another week ahead.
Week two of 2016 and It feels so good to be weekly devoted into this project again. As mentioned in my post Project Life |2016 Prep found here I am using Becky Higgins 6x8 binder in Black leather and page protectors. It's early but I am so loving this size and the "down size" of it all.
This week I used Studio Calico's Arendal kit in digital format found here, I love that they are offering digital kits this way I can slim down the incoming supplies ... I still have tons of SC cards from monthly kits over the years and not all I will use so I love the Digital option!
Keeping with things that I love all the same - the numbers, the large full numbers that mark the weeks I am sticking with here above is the card with week 2 I created in PS + printed at home and then date stamped.
"This will be my year" card is part of the Arendal kit I added the text underneath in Remington noiseless font & digital circle brush script used found here.
That wraps up Week two PL. Happy to get back at it and happy to be sharing here once again. Cheers.
Hi friends, I want to first say Happy New Year! I hope that you all had a wonderful safe one. Welcome 2016 ... I can say that I had a wonderful quiet Christmas with my little family here and enjoyed the kiddos being home for 2 weeks during winter break and from that quiet Christmas into a very celebrated New Years eve with our awesome neighbours and friends.
So 2015 was good to us, but had a number of changes and challenges and big loses. I am grateful for the powerful emotions and growth that all these things taught me. I am grateful that I will now get another year of learning and listening to what comes our way. With that I also invite a new word that I want to embrace and feel more of, so my One little word for 2016 is ... Listen.
Listen. I can honestly say that this word came out and smacked me ... I need to stop & listen more, I knew this when I was "listening" for my thoughts on continuing Project Life or not this year, I sat and waited and listened to my answer and during that time I knew that Listen was the key that might help guide me through 2016.
So I will Listen to all that comes to me, that connects to me, that will teach me about what I need to learn as part of my personal growth. I will LISTEN. Here we go.
* For more information on One Little Word you can link here to Ali Edwards and be a part of this year long workshop.
Hi friends I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas & Holiday season! I talked last week about if I was going to carry on with Project Life, That emotion of feeling "done" was real and it was really hard to admit to my self Thinking that I lost interest in something I loved so much. I explained that I just needed to sit and wait and hear myself go through that feeling. You maybe in the same boat or total opposite and thinking what's the big deal? I know that for me Project Life has brought so much happiness to me as I look back at all the weeks months and years I documented, but it can "change" too ... I need to remember that it's just for us ( my family and I ). Telling our story in Layers of years passing, Telling stories + looking back will be the same - but the changes that I am making is what I heard in my own thoughts. I was ready to change up the album again ... after switching from 12x12 to 9x12 last year and loving the new size ... I am switching it again,
This year I am going to make the change to 6x8, I am thinking now (prematurely maybe) that this size will be it for me here on out. I love that this size is so more compact and versatile ... I can take it on trips or work etc. in my purse without the lugging around of 12x12. I have been thinking about this for a few months now and know that this size will help me minimize my spreads and - I might also struggle with the downsizing we will wait and see. I look forward to continue telling our story.
I want to be able to take this anywhere the size helps with that, it's very easy to carry around + I can easily pack up these supplies and go if need be. Here are a list of supplies I plan on using for Documenting 2016.
1.The binders 6x8 are both Becky Higgins brands (first photo at top of the post)
2.These 6x8 page protectors design 4 + design 3 are also becky Higgins brand - I also have Simple Stories 2x2 pocket pages in the album already set up. I am already anticipating that I might need to use Simple stories Flip pockets that the clear ones to the right int the photo above. I have used these in other project's and love them so I know they will be good use.
3. The trimmer, I am downsizing to this 4x6 trimmer from Darcie. I have been using the Fiskars 12x 4 trimmer these past 6 years and still use it although it has been broken for some time now ... I will still use that one for larger papers but plan on mainly using this one for photo trimming (love that it's very compact).
4. More trimming will be done with these scissors the Westcott is available at Staples and the Cutter bee is available at Michaels craft stores. You can never have too many scissors.
4. Adhesive roller - This year I am using Home and hobby e-z runner this is new for me but already like how it works ... handle is great and surprisingly it's very light.
5. Still loving my Tim Holtz Tiny attacher stapler for various jobs and projects.
6. Stamps - I am a big fan of stamps both physical and digital form ... I plan on using what I have on hand in my stash, maybe picking up a few new ones.
7. Wood Veneers - Also still very much loving these. I find that supplies are hard to come by now so I will try not to hoard these all year.
8. Numbers - Here is a peek at my set up in Album so far, I love to set up the Albums each year in advance just to be more prepared and more "ready" this year (2015) I used my Stendig calendar numbers as to mark the weeks - This next year (2016) I am continuing that but mixing up the numbers a bit to fit the week here above you can see through the page protectors to the weeks numbers and to my surprise I love that they are all mixed in size or font - I created these in PS. Although these numbers are "ready" i'm keeping things flexible and allowing for changes along the way if it feels right.
So there is all is my Project Life 2016 Ready to go! I am very much re-focused and invested in this project once again ... I know that the changes that I made to the book and the fact that I took a little step back for me to reconnect with this project, deciding to not join any creative teams (grateful for all the ones I've joined in past years) this year and just tell our story ... makes me all that much more excited to document another year! Thanks for all your support!!
Around here, December is going good. The Month started slow and now it feels like it blasted off! I am still documenting this month Daily - with December Daily, but just in the way that works for me/us ... I am collecting stories each day & once we get to the end (25th) then I plan on making the Album come together - I made this decision after day 2 of posting the album, and to be honest I woke up on that Day 3 and looked at my book and supplies on my table and didn't "feel" it anymore * Whaaaat (I thought to myself) I totally look forward to this project each year and all of a sudden it was gone.
I sat there looking at my stuff and like a light bulb it was the book it's self, it was the size of album 6x8 that didn't appeal to me anymore (crazy, I changed my album right then and there) it was the timing to tell the stories - I don't ever want to rush a story just to get it into the book! I felt that I was. I felt like the words didn't follow the photo's and that there was something missing. Solution was to "wait" but yes I still collected the photo's and stories (journaled each day) of each day and wait until time was right to put it all together. So it's been quiet on here once again, I know, I've enjoyed it but also like to share so I will jump back on after the Holiday's. Thanks for still checking in. Funny how things just Change right in the middle. Going with the flow.
Looking forward to so much in 2016, and with yet another New Year coming upon us - So very grateful for what 2015 taught us (hard stuff included) with out it we would not grow and change and become better people. Shocking I actually felt like I was done Project life - and that was Hard to admit. Currently I am on week 40 for 2015 - Never that far "behind" in the past years, never stuck for so so long, I know that I was feeling like maybe that's all there is - how else do you know when you are finished ... you loose interest, BUT I am still interested I am still going to tell our story I still have that desire - what was my problem? I live for the stories. Well again I sat and waited to hear my own thoughts ... I had a huge thought - I was lost because I felt that I wasn't connecting enough, just telling the story in a hurry (which I never want to do) only sharing surface stuff like "oh today you rocked because we went to the park" I know there is more depth to that story & more connection I want to find that emotion and connection much more, Some stories are just to the point. Some aren't.
So after all that siting and waiting I did to hear my thoughts on if I would continue Project Life or not ... I am, of course I am, of course I want to and I feel like I have so much more see and do and share but I also needed to share that I thought I wasn't because maybe you had that thought or feeling maybe you just need to sit and wait and listen. I wanted to be very open about how I felt about PL and approaching it in 2016 (post to come - early next week) because that matters too. I know that PL has changed for me once again and I am very ok with that and look forward to it ... I want to end this post with a big Thank you to anyone that reads my blog, comments or not I Thank you for checking in. Merry Christmas to you all & Wishing you all a safe and wonderful New Year!
Cheers and Thank you 2015.
