Thirty. Five.

This past week I had a Birthday, thirty.five. and it's not nearly as scary as I was thinking.  A good friend wrote on my Facebook wall with others wishing me the best and I love what she said  "things are just starting to get good girl" As I was reading it I thought, Ha ... she's so right!! Things are just starting to get good in so many ways and levels. 

We celebrated this weekend and had date night birthday edition which was just what I wanted nothing too over the top & home made cake photo above. cheers to being thirty five, embracing being at the best place, right in the middle. Looking forward to many more years! 

 

The Party.

It was a few months back I asked my daughter what she wanted to do for her upcoming 5th birthday and she responded "Oh you know have my friends from school over and play, and mama I want Elsa to come to my party", Of course I jumped right on that thought of hers as we had been watching Disney's FROZEN on repeat. Ideas flowed.

First thought was can I even make this happen? I went straight online and typed in "princess parties Winnipeg"  and found the best website and company found here that actually does this, I was elated! I quickly sent out an email to them requesting if they had an Elsa .... sure enough I got a phone call and email back saying YES they sure do - OMG. Booked the date and kept my mouth shut. Ava would bring up her party in conversations over the few weeks and talk about what her and her friends would do & she said "mama can Elsa make it to my party from Disneyland"? I said "I think she may be busy at Disneyland and it's a far drive for her to make".

Ava had no Idea Elsa was coming!! I told her that we would do a princess party and she could dress up with her friends in what ever princess dress they wanted "Ok mama" oh man was I sneeky. Tyler was the only one that knew what I was up to. 

We found her dress (Anna the sister to Elsa) at target one night and seriously thought how perfect this is all coming together. We bought her the crown and shoes it was the whole nine yards with this idea. Then the party day came. All the kids were playing in the basement and Elsa came to the door when Ava came to see who was here ... it was magical!!

WOW, I don't think I had ever seen magic like this. Her facial expression said it all, We suprised her good. When it actually sank into who she was starring at she said "Elsa"! BEST MOMENT !! 

I really am thankful that there is such a company that existed to do this for our girl and her little friends that were just as excited as Ava was! Elsa was in the house and they all ran downstairs with her and they got right into games and Elsa did their hair and makeup and stories - all little girls dreams!! 

Cake Time and When Elsa helps you sing Happy Birthday to you - It's a BIG DEAL. She keeps talking about how cool it was that Elsa helped her with her cake. She keeps talking about Elsa period, but the cake part especially. 

With not going over board with FROZEN movie love we have, I broke it up a bit and I found this super cute and awesome party decor by Oh Joy also at Target. Loved all the colours and how it went with the princess party Theme. 

All in all I say that her reaction was the success of the party & we were all exhausted after it was over, But so so worth it!! Putting Ava to bed that night she asked if elsa was home back in Disneyland yet. I answered maybe, and I bet she is telling all her princess friends all about the party. Oh man I Love this age!

HOORAY, she's FIVE today!!

HOORAY!! Our little girl is FIVE today!! Wow, that was a blink of time for real!! We always say that the kids are growing too fast & there is so much truth in that, that it hurts. Remembering 2009 when this little girl came into our loves and changed it for eternity. 

Dear Ava, 

Today you turn five, It seems to amaze me how fast time is moving with you. I still remember how excited we were the day I found out I was expecting you. I by chance thought I was feeling a little different so took a trip to my Doctor to make sure it wasn't just a flu. Once there I was called into the office and before the Doctor could say any results I seen the file on the desk that highlighted "positive".

My heart leaped & although I was a mama already Ethan being three at the time I was so thrilled just as much as the first time we found out that we were expecting. It was a long nine months and not easy with me being sick all nine months and I mean all of it. 

That day that you decided to change our world and made me a very proud mama of two. 16 Hours of labour with you & five days in hospital due to complications, my body needed more time to heal after you. But in those moments of extra days in the hospital in those quiet moments of just you + me once daddy went home with Ethan for the night and we had a room to ourselves - I would walk with you in that room and stand at the window holding you and think this world looked so different now. In the early quiet 3am feedings I would look at your face and say "good morning beautiful"  

I still say it to you now as you know ... it's just stuck with you + me. I have written your story many times and each time I think how blessed I am to be your mama. In five years I have taught you so much and in turn you have taught me just as much. I LOVE LOVE LOVE being your mama girl !!

So Today as you wake up on this fifth Birthday I will greet you as normal and say "good morning beautiful - Happy Birthday" !
