HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY to our FIRST born!! OMG ... eleven years here on this earth with this kiddo, I am sure blessed and proud to be his Mama! I can say that somedays I don't feel like a ten+ years under her belt Mama and that these ropes are still "new" to me. However somedays it's the total opposite and I feel like this has been a lifetime of mothering - in the end I am a MAMA to two incredible kiddos and I always feel ... blessed, every single day!
So here is your story Ethan, Born September 30th 2004 One year and one month after Mama + Daddy's 1st anniversary ... we welcomed you! Man we were so young, so brand new and we thought we knew it all well enough to know how this parenting thing would go, I thought I knew how much I loved you as you grew in my belly, but once you were here in our arms, once I could see you and we made eye contact for the first time .... man I was not prepared for that current of love that took over me and I loved you the second I seen you, the minute I held you and the first few hours we came to know you in that hospital room.
I remember saying to Daddy ... "he has an old soul" I was in the hospital bed feeding you, after a very hard couple hours - You had gotten sick shortly after you were born and we had a very scary, ok bloody frightening experience they hooked you up to an IV and took you away for awhile which felt like hours & hours but once they returned you - I knew, I knew how much we loved you how much you already meant to us how much I KNEW you! That is when I said to Daddy he has an old soul. It was the way you looked around the room with your wrinkled forehead with your big wide eyes. This is still known to be true!
What I learned as a Mama because of you ... Man so much, Everything I wrote above + a million other things. LOVE .... I learned love. I learned that each night is the end of that day and the next morning is the start to a new one - we have had long days + longer nights we have had millions of laughs and tons of tears - I am who I am because I am your MAMA. Thank you for that!!
