Let's talk about Cameras, Because It's something I totally LOVE! I started my love for cameras and photography early in my life ... around age seven. I remember my grandfather always had a camera close by if not in his face pointing it at us, me, my sister, my cousins and all the family gathered at any time. I was in awe of this thing that could capture RIGHT NOW!
I took on that love for cameras and You can see that Pentax Asahi on the bottom right? That was the very camera that my grandfather shot with! Sadly he passed away when I was 13 I always wondered what happen to his cameras then one summer in my adult years my grandma GAVE it to me! Oh man it was like he was there some how & I love using it.
I then grew into more and more photography more cameras and the more the years passed I was the one with the camera stuck to my face, My husband and kids totally get it ... my passion is totally ignored by them and doesn't phase them that I am "taking a picture" Ava even draws me with a camera, Lol.
So here is my inventory of cameras and gear ... Current everyday use is my Canon 5D Mark II Digital and love this camera so so much! LOVE the wide angle of the 24-105mm EF & the depth of field with my 50mm lens. I have loved using this camera for the last almost three years.
Next up is my Canon Rebel G Film camera, I LOVE film love shooting it and getting the prints back from the lab or store there are currently only two places local that develop film here in Winnipeg. Luckily They still do One hour processing as well so I don't need to wait a long time to get prints back.
I also will mention that I recently got this camera from a online source kijiji and was bidding on it for $60.00 then when I contacted the seller he decided to GIVE it to me for free!! I was so excited and quickly shot 3 rolls with it. It works perfectly and hey man that gave it away it is MUCH LOVED!
Next up another film camera The Fujica, I love this one for the value that I got it at a fleamarket while visiting my parents in Vancouver. I Imagine all the places it's been and who shot it ... the seller was certain it was long time local photographer but not 100%. It does have some damage to the mirror inside and that makes the images more "dusty" or "dirty" I kinda like that extra texture on the film print. I shot with this camera a lot last summer & love the memories caught with it.
Here we are back at the Asahi Pentax I inherited from my grandfather. I love that this is a piece that will stay in our family and hope that someone else will love it as much as me and my Giedo did. I know from the papers in the case that this was bought in Germany on one of their vacations and he went all out back then buying these and three lenses in total to go with it.
Next up is more of a for fun camera ... The Fujifilm instax mini camera. Also know as a polaroid camera and you can see above the fun we have captured with it & currently I have a fridge half full with prints and another full magnet board in our dinning room.
I find these cameras really fun for trips to the beach or park or camping always camping! The film can be bought in packs of 20 for $20 so really it's a dollar a photo.
Last on the list is my iphone 4S ... I love that I capture 85% of our life on this device! Still so crazy to think that we take photo's on a phone, ten year old me is like WHAT!! I love that it is so easy to take a photo and email it text it icloud it or print it all right here. I love the quality of iphone and so easy to keep right in my back pocket to get that unexpected photo.
Of course I love to share my love of photography on where else but Instagram with millions of others who are doing the same ... loving photo's. I started Instagram in 2009 or 2010 and love to scroll my own feed from time to time to see all the change we have made. LOVE !!!
That wraps up my camera talk and I am sure that my collection is not yet completed don't think it ever will be & as long as I'm using them then I feel ok with a shelf full.
I think that this photo taking is one of the PURPOSE in my life and if I can leave anything behind I want it to be the life I captured in photo's because it's our story. For my kids and their kids and so on, it may be cheesy but it's the real truth. I am thankful for this life that allows me to do so.
