Project Life |Week 48

IMG_9958

IMG_9995

Continuing the wrap up of 2014 Here & a little peek at my PL | Week 48 and what life looks like during this week. Midnight edition + Seafoam edition used. I feel when there is so much overlap in projects I just want to get it all done - But then I wait and remember ... Slowing down to Really tell our stories. These last few weeks along with December Daily + prep of 2015 album + joining in One little word again this year (reveal my word today - later post).

This week Ethan & I had eye exams and even though the experience with the reception was less than awesome ... the overall appointments were great for both of us, only a slight change in my perscription (thank goodness, I am already -5) and no change for Ethan at all ( also thank goodness he has his great vision).

IMG_9981

IMG_9991

This page at the top right pocket I used an Ali Edwards, "beautiful fantastic imperfect" stamp set in digital format.

IMG_9958

Again I added in a few wood veneers to the pages and that "hello sunshine" is a Studio Calico piece from a past kit. That wraps up another week. Love all the journaling I got into this spread as the journaling part is not always big part of my spreads - sometimes I just want the photo's to be the story ... but I am working on bringing in more words.

Thanks for reading and your support in 2014!! Looking forward to 2015 + the plans I have. Have a great Sunday!

Project Life | Week 49

IMG_0030

As we close up this wonderful time of the year and say goodbye to 2014 & welcome 2015 there is a large percentage that I have projects overlapping and that means more photo's to print yes, but also more stories to tell.

Above is my Project Life spread for week 49 and the big difference her in this week was that I hand written over the transparent divider ( normally painted ) and this was super fun to do as I wanted to add in more words to this particular spread.

IMG_0034

Close up view of the cards this week I used some of Liz Tamanaha's december faves & paired that with the Midnight edition (still a strong fave kit of mine).

IMG_0023

IMG_0016

IMG_0027

It was also super fun to include some December Daily stamps from 2013 kit "CHEERS" was one of them & I love that this week was the traditional get the family christmas tree week.

On the Favorite things card I added in more date stamping, love doing that + love the look of it when it's done. Also you can see that transparent divider a little better here too.

LOVE this magical time of year!

As the days of celebration are winding down & we all settle in with our new toys and head back into routines I am happy to be closing up this year and jumping into a new one ... Totally ready to start another year of DOCUMENTING and sharing our little story - because it matters. There might be a time when I don't document with Project Life but Very unlikely.

MERRY EVERYTHING!

IMG_4324

Full view of both pages here. The pockets I used are Design D & A altered with my sewing machine ... stitching up the pockets to create the size I want ( learning this through Elise Cripe & Ali Edwards blogs ) I am hooked on custom size pockets.

IMG_4402

I added in a veneer word bubble top right pocket and stapled with my Tim Holts tiny attacher this tool is not always used but one of my favorite tools on my desk!

IMG_4379

More wood veneers added to that bottom right sunshine edition card, it's me and Tyler on datenight last saturday see "his" and "hers" movie stubs ... the kids had a REAL babysitter for the first time - No relatives! this was a first for all of us & even the grandparents were wondering about how it all went. Project Life | Week 26.

IMG_1729

Hello Project life week 26 & the end of album number one. This week I added in some brushscripted cards that I made a few months ago. I also made the custom pockets from Design D.

I closed up the 6x4 slots and made more 4x3 pockets ... I am hooked on sewing on pockets! This week I also used Sunshine edition and some wood veneers from studio calico.

IMG_1699

Left hand side of this full page view is Design F with a closed up pocket to fit 12 3x4 spaces. I trimmed down the sunshine edition title card to also fit 3x4.

Yes to making our way through another long winter and to celebrate summer & getting to the documenting part our life. This is still a favorite way to keep record + document still after four years I am loving this project! I am not yet sure how I will approach next years style in terms of kits and albums ... my 6x8 cookbook I was working on has taken a backseat and I would love to focus on that for a while too.

I am very grateful for Becky Higgins in creating this style of how we can document our lives & I am loving the oppourtunity to be sharing along on the Creative team.

Project Life | Cut and Paste kit Challenge.

Tharrisontitlepgb

A few months back I was given the oppourtunity to create Project Life pages in a challenge sort of way, Becky Higgins had emailed us Creative Team Members and asked who would like to join the challenge of creating pages ONLY using the "Cut and Paste kit" by Amy Tangerine & these pages would be taken on her Australian tour.

I was up for the challenge and got to work as soon as the kit came to me in the mail. I knew almost right away the pages I wanted to work on ... mostly trips and highlights of last years events. It was very challenging for me to not go to my usual stock of supplies and go to items - but on the flip side it reconnected me to remember it's about the photo's and the story I write - not the bells and whitsles.

The first thing I noticed while using the kit was that it just flowed so nicely I wanted my photo's to be what stood out not the cards - but the cards in this kit just fit so well, needless to say I adore this kit!!

In the end I had about seven two page spreads and a whole lot of memories documented in about a four hour span. Again this kit was a favorite to use for sure and will be happy to use it again in the future albums.

Thanks to Becky for the challenge and the kit - Thanks to Amy Tangerine for designing the kit! If you are interested in the kit you can visit the above links. Thanks for reading!!

Project Life | Week 14.

IMG_8906

Hello week 14. This was a long worked on week. Each time I had a plan in motion, I had to step back ... printer issues, paper ran out, or working on it just didn't jam with life's scheduale. Regardless I knew it was there waiting and I was ok with the hiccups to get this week done, That's life.

IMG_8945

This week 14 also know as Spring Break week, we had a busy busy week. Packing in our spring break adventures plus an awesome Birthday + party. I am always so happy to see the result of a super busy week like this all done and documented - feeling overwhelmed at the time or pulled in a millon directions reminding myself to always take a step back have fun with it all & capturing it on my camera or iphone camera - so so happy that I do.

Starting with this insert front page to highlight Ava's fifth birthday party. I have always been a fan of the insert and forever will be, The "*best day ever" card is one I recently made with the Project Life sticker set found here and instagramed that process here & just basically I painted acrylic paint right over top of them and peeled it off - love how it turned out. The "this is rad" stamp is a Dear Lizzy stamp set found here.

IMG_8912

IMG_8929

Welcoming in April with another hand painted divider. Using the insert to highlight her birhtday party and a special guest Elsa that we invited - needless to say that she was excited. Insert is Design F trimmed down and stitched to create three rows down and three rows across.

IMG_8941

I also created a hidden journal space with a peek-a-boo effect under the divider the black and white card I punched out a side of the card to make that peek-a-boo and placed a metal brat at the top to hindge the two papers then glued on some wood veneers. Beside that card I kept going with the punch and created three bubbles of the studio calico kit "office hours"  also adhering a wood veneer number 5. Still can't believe our baby is 5.

IMG_9004

Full page view of the back side of the insert, another hand painted card with the peeled sticker effect and more highlights of Ava's party. One the right side full page view of some of our spring break highlights & a large 6x4 Paislee press calendar found here.

IMG_8950

IMG_8958

IMG_8962

IMG_8977

I loved using the round days of the week "round about days" found here also by paislee press to highlight the days of our spring break week. These tags I punched out with my marve punch and stapled on with my tiny attacher.

IMG_9047

So easy to use and incorporate into the photo's, I trimmed off the edge of the circle to place them on the edge of the photo's, LOVE LOVE these and you can see them thoughout this weeks spread.

IMG_9023

That wraps week 14 and we made it through another spring break week of good madness, loved it all!! Look for weeks 15 & 16 coming later this week.

Project Life 2014 | week 13.

IMG_7771Project Life | Week 13. I can say that I am still enjoying this project 100% today as the day I started. This week 13 is the week before spring break and it had more laid back easy going week for us - sorta of like a calm before the storm.

IMG_7779

I will say that it was nice to do a full two page of Design A pockets again .... but again I will go back and forth. I also brought back in my label tabs that I love doing to add that little touch of information.

IMG_7778

Peek of bottom portion of right page week 13.

IMG_7789

This week another detail of information I used the Midnight edition date card and stamped "for the love of" from Elise Cripe (No longer available). I love this stamp and use it often because of the blank spot that highlights YOUR WORDS I love the look of text and handwriting so I love that My words of the weeks events Big or small they are there to see in text & in photographs. So yes love that stamp so I knew I wanted to use the empty space in the title card to highlight MY WORDS.

IMG_7800

Full view of the left page Week 13. "Hi" pocket is another cork embellishment from last week's Studio Calico "office hours" kit.

IMG_7801

Full view both pages. Midnight edition & Seafoam edition used. kept it real simple this week & felt good.

IMG_7806 IMG_7805 IMG_7822

This wraps up week 13. I am looking forward to seeing another year through with the joy I have in document our lives, which is the main goal and reason to doing this project!

Project Life 2014 | Week 12 ... it's a long one!

IMG_7415

Hello Project Life | week 12. I have said it before & I will say it again this year is moving quickly! I had so much fun incorporating Studio Calico's monthly kit "office hours" found here. I signed on for a recurring monthly membership and look forward to using more of their kits in future weeks. This weeks spread also included pocket designs A,B,F that was trimmed down & used as an insert.

IMG_7369-2

Closer look at the front page of the insert. I love that March 4x6 card by Studio Calico "office hours" this insert page was used as a feature of a day we spent outside ... inserts can be of anything & with a day that was not minus 50 and it was sunny and warm and we loved it so that after a long winter deserved an insert!  I used pocket Design F and trimmed down the last row to create three rows of pockets is all I needed.

IMG_7624 IMG_7626IMG_7640 IMG_7638 IMG_7672

Flip side of that insert pocket design F. Again using studio calico's "office hours" kit and highlighted our recent painting project and my little eager helper Ava that painted the bottom portion of her room ... We had so much fun doing this together and surprised to find out that this little four year old is actually a great painter :)

IMG_7675

Love that girl! Also loving the cork embellishments and this one is on a clear transparency which I have done in the past pages but also love how thick this one is ... you can't tell here but it's thick and that's great in terms of not bending and marking up on the page. I LOVE the see through effect of the transparency! Yep you will see more of that too.

IMG_7677 IMG_7695IMG_7696 IMG_7697

Ok I have mentioned before how much I love wood veneers love love love them and simply it emphasizes what I want attention to be drawn to in a clean way. Some may say I'm addicted to them, but it's a true go to in finishing up a page. Find what you love to wrap up your pages and stick to it.

Thanks for reading this long post on week 12! Comments and questions are always welcome!

Project Life 2014 | Organizing the cards.

IMG_6715

This year I am once again documenting with the two main core kits I used last year seafoam edition & Midnight edition of the Project Life line, but also wanted to add in another fave core kit ... Sunshine edition this is a new one for me this year and I already love it. That's a total of three core kit's but due to my dwindling supply of seafoam I am not sure how much or how long it will last in this years album(s) I have been using two albums per year.

All three of these kits work great together and while I'm a strong believer in not over stressing or over thinking about the kits and remind myself that it's really all about the photo's not just the paper - but come on these papers are AMAZING!

IMG_6740

IMG_6746

When I first get a kit I open it and start making piles of that card ... left overs are awesome and having access to digital files to reprint is even more awesome! Once I make these piles of cards I can see the ones I am going to LOVE then I start to pile them all up by order of colour ( still keeping them within their own groups of designers)  I am sure there is a million ways to organize your cards but for me this has worked very well.

IMG_6743

IMG_6775

IMG_6801

IMG_6771

IMG_6744

With keeping things simple and not overwhelming I bought a tray container from Ikea, actually I bought three of them I knew that I would want to work on my Project Life all over the house and not just in my office space. I love having that freedom of moving around the house. The Ikea trays worked more than perfect for this job.

IMG_6822

Listing the cards by designer with an insert card I made with kraft paper and title at top to list the designer. They fit perfect in the tray slots & dividers that the container has. I also use it to keep all my go to supplies as seen above I keep button/badges, stamps, wood veneers, Ink pad, more stamps, pens, glue pens, tape runners, more pens, tiny attacher stapler, and the cards.

IMG_6836

IMG_6849

IMG_6851

IMG_6829

IMG_6847

These two trays have been a true life saver for me in the keeping things simple and at arms reach when I want them, again being able to move around to create is super important right now due to office space changing in the winter months (sunroom closed in winter and I use the basement space as an Office - which has mega space and a fireplace but not the best light) Hoping to share a office tour once it's back in the sunroom again. That's pretty much it for supply organization for me - again super simple is key.

If you would like more information on Project Life please visit Becky Higgins blog here, I am honored to be on her creative team this year!

Kits I use are : seafoam edition, midnight edition, sunshine edition.

Thanks for reading!
