Week in the Life 2015 | Wednesday.

Hello again I thought it would be best to double up the days here + not drag this on too long with the photo part of this project so I can get at the making the Album part so here is Wednesday.

 Last Morning Kayak on the water, I know I am going to miss this as part of my morning exercise  but most of all the talks with my mom here.

 

Saying goodbye to my parents is never easy, I know that they are getting older and I worry about them ... Again thankful for technology. Ava was not happy at all to say goodbye. 

Before hitting the highway we made a stop into my Dad's aunts & Uncles home down the road. This home is the original homestead and was built 95 years ago in 1920. I love the history of this place I love the stories that are here, I love that my great-grandfather & great-grandmother raised 6 children here on this land. I love that my kids know the stories here. 

I love that my great- aunt Marilyn loves gardening just as much as I do. I love that she gave me fresh dill and spinach to take home.

I had the best conversations with my great-aunt about how the kids here were raised and I know how different I am raising my children but also similar, raised with love. I had the honour of seeing my Great- Grandmother's quilts in the house, I was even given one to keep! I was extremely proud of that as I was also just given then one she made my parents for their wedding day nearly 40 years ago to do repairs on. I loved my Great-grandmother she lived to be 91 and her heart was gold. Quilting is her legacy we now enjoy & I hope to carry on that as well as my own legacy of story telling.

On the road again ... Not too sure if it was the lake life that caught up to Ethan but he had a hard time on this ride home but his cards kept him happy (construction on the highway didn't help).

A drive that usually takes 2.5 -3 hours took us nearly 5 this trip due to Highway construction, I although was also not happy in the vehicle I understand they need to fix the roads - we offered that worker a cold drink. 

I knitted while stuck in traffic.

We stopped for gas and washroom breaks. 

We also made a stop at McDonalds for the kids - Tim Horton's for the Adults. 

Before we knew it we were home first at the In-laws to pick up our dog Oliver. Ava and Ethan both excited to be with their pup again. 

Home, It's so good to go places and sleep under the stars & enjoy cabin life but Nothing is as good as home. I was busy unpacking (not a fan of that part) so I took less photo's here, but our night mostly went like this ... Unpacking laundry piles made, Showers, baths, PJ's , late supper, cleaning up the kitchen, putting coolers away, gear away, sitting on the couch, getting into my bed all cozy and catching up on blogs and emails and pinterest. I was asleep very quickly. It was good.

Week in the Life 2014 | The Album.

YES! Another Week in the Life is completed & now this Album can go up on the shelf. Here is a peek of what this week looked like for us ... 

Monday | October 27 2014.

Opeing or starting off the album with our title page full 6x8.

Monday title page template & I added in a tag / date stamp / hand journaled and tiny attacher staple.

Then I have a four 3x4 pocket slot page protector as the next page. AE digital brush set and I made it into a journal card ( still need to jot some words down ). 

Here is the flip side of the four 3x4 pockets & the next page is a two 4x6 pocket page and I took a 6x8 photo and cut down the middle. Another AE brush used onto of the photo.

A few close up shots and that ends our Monday.

Tuesday | October 28th 2014.

Tuesday Title page an early morning view from my kitchen window.

I used scrap kraft paper & stamps around here, top left date stamp and bottom right Elise Blaha Cripe stamp. Also added in wood veneer.

Flip side more stamps and AE digital on that top left page.

Another split 6x8 to fit the 4x6 pockets. Adding in some text about the entire day under that photo of me at Yoga class.

Flip side using the AE template & brush then cut down the middle.

Last page for Tuesday and I went full 6x8 Adding in AE digi Brush and tag with date stamp and tiny attacher.

Wednesday | October 29 2014

 Here on the left side AE titile page template & I did all my title pages hybrid part digital then seperate photo print out on top. To the right there is a four 3x4 pocket slots and again I used AE digital brushes "hello Wednesday" to create 3x4 cards.

This side is a two 4x6 slot pocket page and one side is the kids other is a shot of the leaves in the yard & I wrote about the day in a text box over top of that.

Thursday | October 30th 2014.

 

Thursday, Title page.

Still needing to fill in that open journaling spot. 

Split that 6x8 in to two 4x6 even with the text going across it, it turned out alright. 

Last page with another AE template used but made half of it a full 4x6. That ends Thursday.

Friday | October 31st 2014.

Friday, Title page left and four 3x4 slot pockets on the right. 

Close up of halloween prepping. Our bowl that we use each year for the treats we hand out has become a true sign that it's Halloween night! 

Again just need to get that blank card journaled on and it's done!

A few more AE brushes and then adding in text underneath.

Saturday we moved around our master bedroom for the office and moved a TON of furniture, cleared a bunch of junk out and made my office space nice & cozy again. Ava really liked helping out. Left side is a screen shot I took on my iphone while my brother in BC was on facetime with Ava (they play guitar together on the phone & it melts my heart).

Sunday | November 2nd 2014.

Full view last pages of Sunday & used AE brushes to stamp the day again on both pages ... I can not believe another year of WITL has come and gone and how much I still love this project and how more indeepth we get to see our day to day life.

So now time to get at the December daily album ... should be posting that album and the prep for it soon.

Week in the Life 2014 ... getting ready.

We are at that time of year once again to embrace the REAL everyday life that we live. I am once again going to join in with the creator of "week in the life" Ali Edwards to stop and take on that capturing part of out lives, although I have done this project many times in the past 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 I feel like it's new again each year! 

Ali had an amazing post on her site explaining the whole point of WITL and why one should try it and what it is for & what it is not. Funny I have seen exactly what she is talking about in the past and I've even had moments of feeling like I was "doing it wrong" NO it's not like that ... simply, just keep a conscious mind of what you are doing right NOW in this time of the year this time of your life and document it. 

This year I plan on having more of a conscious mind and try to see, hear, and feel each day as it goes along ... I want to really pay attention to my families habbits as they are right now today. I want to pay attention to all the little things that I am using and why? Maybe I want to be a fly on the wall of my own home and see what makes us, us.

Tackling the album part this year VS. past years ... I found an adorable album at micheals craft store the other day and it's the Heidi Swapp 6x8 album I knew it was the right fit for this years book and so let the prep time begin!

When I found this album knowing that WITL was perfect fit, I also knew that painting it all white ( except strips ) was going to happen & a little title on the front to make it complete.  This album came with those pocket protectors and because Ava wanted her own Heidi Swapp album I bought two and got her pockets as well. It worked out perfect for the two of us.

This album is a horizontal 6x8 and that is something new for me & I can't wait to start the documenting part to see this album really come to life and hold our story of RIGHT NOW. I used a plain brush and Acrylic paint ( same one I paint my PL dividers with ) and it turned out great more on the cover soon. 

Again I am super excited to take on this project like many of you, there are so many ways you could do WITL within PL or on it's own go check out Ali Edwards site to get you inspired even more and to purchase the templates that go along with the project.
