Week in the Life 2015 The Album | Wednesday.

Hi guy's, Hello Tuesday ... Wishing my Husband Tyler a Very Happy Birthday today!! I hope you all had a great weekend - If you have been following along the last couple weeks this project is the final step to WITL (week in the life) project done with Ali Edwards & you can find more info here. 

So here we are mid-week + I am still loving this process the process of seeing my photo's now together with the words to make something I can hold onto. I am loving the layers the most of this book and keeping that going. 

Full view here & left is the opening page 6x8 and still going with the transparent dividers with the wood veneers as a starting to the day, moving onto the next 3x8 page with the date stamp on it underneath the transparent pages. 

Totally love these prompts on this 3x8 - it really allowed me to tell more of the day's story without needing more space like using a 3x4. 

On the right there is the timeline of the day I made it into a 4x6 and punched new holes to fit into the middle of the book as I did for Mon. + Tues. loving the space for the breakdown of the day and the layers again.

On the flip side of the timeline card at the bottom I added in a brush "capturing life"from Ali's site.

As per Mon. + Tues. I also added in the 4x6 photo's right into the book (Ali's rad Idea) but this day I used tabs on the photo and text (Bebes) then I used the washi tape from the kit to use as a flip tab and date stamped underneath. 

LOVE those little tabs!

Totally digging layers again here. I can see all parts of the day's stories.

Little details on the photo's I love the look of the text and the tab with the wood veneer stars all add to this page/day and the story. 

Adding in another 3x4 pocket page here with transparent top left corner. 

On this last page here for the day was another template from Ali's site here, I carried on again with the hybrid style adding in photo's and then adding a pattern paper on the blank squares. 

Ending Wednesday here with our best memories of the Lake with my parents, it really is the "things that matter" So happy that This was a part of the week that we documented WITL so happy that Wednesday holds such stories, so happy to complete this day and get these stories told. Week in the 2015 The Album | Tuesday.

Happy Friday everyone, Today I am sharing Week in the life the album | Tuesday. I started today off with a full 6x8 on the left opening page one of Ava at the lake being herself super goofy, I LOVE this girl of mine! Six is a super fun age minus a few meltdowns. The 6x8 has the date & I also added one of the digital stamps from Ali's site  "the story of today".

Today starts with another transparencies + wood veneer "day".

3x8 date stamped.

On the flip side of the pattern paper adding in another prompt 3x8 card here and loving this detail so I will carry on with that as well. 

Keeping with Mondays page I also added another 4x6 card stock page with the times and event of the day's happenings - also loving this detail. (text in bold is Bebes & the other is American typewriter). 

On the flip side of the 4x6 card I took this left over paper in my scrap pile into 4x6 adding on a word tag.

Again loving the layers in the book as I go. 

Adding those 4x6's (Ali's idea - seen here) is a bonus, totally love this look.

On the last page to the right I made another hybrid page with the templates in the digital kit.

Week in the life, The Album | Monday.

Hey guy's Happy Monday! I had made a goal for myself last week that I wanted to have WITL all done and wrapped up today Monday August 31st - Realistically I was only able to complete Monday & Tuesday - this is more time commitment than I remember it's more detail and well I even found myself second thinking the way I was documenting. I just need to remember all that matters is the stories so I took a step back (worked on sewing my table runner instead) and started again.  Here is Monday. 

Opening page on Monday I went with the 2x2 page and love it, all those little squares work perfect for your instagram photo's. 

Each day I wanted to start out with those transparent dividers I trimmed them down to 3x8 and you bet those wood veneer "days" were used + placed onto with clear roller adhesive.

I also wanted to use those papers that slide into the 3x8 pockets so this one I used my date stamper all over the page and added one of the stamps that came with the kit as well. 

On the flip side of that 3x8 paper is the 3x8 prompt card that I loved to use and add more detail of the day. 

Totally loved this idea from Ali about adding in 4x6 photo's right into the book without using the pockets this allows you to add more photo's into the book and I had a lot of those so I JUMPED on that idea! I then used the perforated tabs one on each side + stapled with a tiny attacher to create a "tab" to pull the photo over. 

I love how these turned out, those little tabs are perfect to add the the edge of the photo's. 

I love how this book is getting so many layers in it with the 6x8 the 3x8 the 4x6 it's all layered to see different things peaking through.

On each of these photo's I added a little journaling about the day + date. 

I miss my Kayak!

On the next page to the right I wanted to add in all those "times" from the worksheet PDF from Ali that I used to help keep track of the day and so happy I do that. I wrote this out in photoshop on 4x6 and added the stamps in photoshop from the digital kit + date stamped. 

Closer look here, this is that 4x6 pocket I trimmed down and stapled the "monday" to the top I originally had this in the bottom half of the page & then moved it up to the centre of the page punching new holes into the pocket so it would fit, Again I like the layered look of it. 

I then have the four 3x4 pocket page, adding in more photo's and journal space. 

A few more 4x6 photo's added in here again. 

This star photo is actually one of my faves. 

Ava and My Mom is another Fave.

Adding in this detail of the trip was super important, I want to remember this view - I know that our winters are long here and our trips to our cabin are very few in the cold months. 

The last page on the right was a template in Ali's digital set - I think this one was actually Saturday? but I took off the text in photoshop and did a little hybrid paper here as per my past WITL albums. I love how day one Monday turned out.

Week in the life 2015 | Saturday & Sunday.

Hello today I am sharing some photo's from the last two day's documented for our Week in the life and here starting with Saturday you can see it was a very rainy day, in fact it was a dark gloomy thunder + Lightening storm day and those kinda day make me extremely tired (lazy) want to curl up with coffee and blanket and a movie or two. 

Before the dark came the morning had some light & today Ava and I started the day in the office and sunroom, she watched Goonies and I worked on various projects including WITL photo's for the blog.

I LOVE Saturday's. 

Soon we made our way to the kitchen, boy's sleeping in. I start breakfast.

I am back in my office & start to work on Project Life.

That didn't last long before the rain really came down and I needed to switch projects. 

Ava was extremely upset that there would be no bike rides today. 

I ask her to hangout with me while I start working on sewing squares for my parents quilt. 

She brought a bunch of her playmobil guy's in here & played until it got super dark & huge crash of thunder hit, then she was on my lap + the dog under my feet both scared. 

I was able to get a few squares done but not onto the quilt yet. 

The rain let up a tad & I was in between folding laundry - never ending. I have been suffering from neck pain this week and today continued a migraine (very frequent lately) so I stop everything to meditate & yoga. It helps,but not 100%. I am currently using this lululemon podcast as meditation & love it. 

Finally the kids are getting a much needed break from the house and we head out to go blacklight minigolf with friends of ours - super fun times & although it was cool it's very hard on the eyes being in there as long as we were. After golf we all went to Pizza Hut all eight of us the kiddos had a blast & us adults did too. 

We got home pretty late so we also decided it was a great night for a living room camp out, popcorn and Big hero 6 movie. A very great Day! 

YAY, I made it ... by Sunday I am usually tired of my camera & kinda "done" with this part of the project, but so happy that I stick with it even if I take less photo's then other days. Here is Sunday. 

Starting the day off right, at my desk & it's still a little rainy and a slow start around here.

Office is a total mess I start working on PL again and get distracted with cleaning and re-organizing the cards in my drawer.

I am planting my feet here and staying in the office till I get it done, but ...

That didn't last long before I was told we needed milk and eggs, I picked up bag coleslaw for dinner. 

Of course I stop into grab more yarn. I love this isle.

I Love that yellow Roving and bought two of them for fall projects.

I notice all the pretty Christmas decor out & think that this would look great on the tree this year. I know it's only August. 

I get back home and Ava is needing a nap today, must have been the movie night last night.

I do some vacuuming.

Watering the plants i have been neglecting.

I finish up week 28 of Project Life and photograph it for a later blog post. 

Tyler pulls a bell pepper from the garden for Dinner tonight, This one is the size of my hand.

I roast potatoes and carrots & chicken is in the oven. This is where I slow down on the photo's again, Most likely the evening went much the same as before and I know that my headache was a big factor of ending the photo's here ... tylenol and my bed were pretty much the end of the night. 

Although I lost a little steam at the end of this project I love all that I did capture and know that this next step of putting the album together is a Fave - Jumping on that next and hope to have that post all ready for Monday.

Week in the life 2015 | Friday.

Hello Friday! We made it to the end of the week and heading into the weekend & I am super happy with the stories I have captured, I am super pumped to start putting this album together which is my plan this weekend and to be done it all on Monday August 31st. Goal made. Here is Friday in photo's I am going to be a little more silent with the words this post ... enjoy.

Week in the Life 2015 | Thursday.

Ah Thursday, Ah to waking up in my own bed + grabbing that cup of coffee already brewed for me. I love that this is today's start, I love that the kiddos are still sleeping, I love summer break. 

Once coffee is had I jumped into the shower & get ready for the day ahead, starting here in my office today looking at what this week already held + goals I needed to meet and stuff we did at the cabin. Today I start with emails and catch up on reading blogs and writing my own posts. This didn't last long before the kiddos wake up. 

Ava was awake first and got dressed right away then she decided she didn't want breakfast but to play in her room. 

Current fave toy's are her playmobil sets and barbie anything! I love that she play's so independently I love checking in on her and she is busy in full story of her own, often about the animals in these sets. 

Once Ethan was awake I suggested that we go to Ikea for breakfast as I needed to pick up a few things there the kids were on board with the idea.

We really did have a lot of fun in the mirror section of the store, I love these faces. 

Once back home I start the laundry from camp that I was totally trying to avoid, I should know better by now.

The kitchen get's a good cleaning as well.

I put together the little shelf I picked up at Ikea. Super Easy. 

I open up the quilts I received, this one is from my parents a wedding gift from my Great - grandmother. I look at the different patterns and textures of the fabric she used (often it was old clothing that they cut up to reuse).

This one is the one I inherited only a few squares need repairs.

Back in my office journaling bit's about the day.

Cleaning the shelves. 

We all needed a break from the house and laundry loads. Tyler worked later tonight so I decided to take the kiddos to the outdoor pool - a summer manifesto goal we got to check off. 

So proud of this little girl, Ava you were so fearless jumping off that diving board for the first time! WAY TO GO!!

All smiles when she came up to the top. 

I got in the water for a few games and to get my hair wet then jumped out to read a bit Ava took a break with me to snack on fruitloops I brought with us.

I love summer, I love this project, I love that we stayed here until the pool closed at 7pm then went & grabbed burgers and fries from five guy's because swimming made us so hungry and I was super lazy - yep, I love summer.

I am noticing a pattern here though it seems like once the evening hit's I take less and less photo's ... the words are going to have to do, Our night looked like this ... showers, books, hockey cards, movies, bed.

Week in the life 2015 | Tuesday.

On with the week we have spent documenting & this continues the week started at the lake at our cabin. Tuesday in photo's ... 

The day started out the same as before me & Mom on the water kayaking, this time in the morning fog on the water - Thanks to my husband for capturing this shot of us heading out. I am very happy when other people pick up the camera. We had an audience this morning ...

Ava was bummed that she couldn't join the kayak club, one day my girl! 

 

Once we got back on shore again I grab another coffee and this one was very well deserved. 

I started to clean up the Cabin a little, make our beds and sweep up the dirt we carry in. Even at camp we have chores.

Back on the water & I loved watching the kids fish this week they really took it on holding casting and reeling all on their own, Ethan caught and reeled in his own 30' this trip he was pretty excited about that.

Uncle Jesse (back in B.C. and couldn't make the trip this year) bought Ava this fishing rod & she totally loves it.

Twister is always a good game to get the sillies out. Or started.

I LOVE this child of mine! Be free & run wild - indeed.

If it's not my toque than it's this hat that I wear all day long. 

Break time in the cabin = rainbow loom making.

I make my own craft and started a new cowl with this multicolour yarn. 

Trying out the quad with her geido (grandpa).

Dinner is ready, Chicken burger & perogies beans and coleslaw. 

My parents moved their camper to a full service campground as they have been on the road for nearly two weeks & needed to fill up with water and use the showers. We went to their site to do marshmallows then I drove back to the cabin at sunset.

Sunset at the lake no matter how many times I see it, it's amazing each time.

Goodnight another great day at the lake.

Week in the life 2015 | Monday.

 

Hey friends, This week has been fun as I record in depth our Week - the week in the life of us. This is a project created by Ali Edwards you can find more info here - but I'm sure you have already heard about it. I love this project more and more each year and I know why ... The building of albums at the end I currently have four and love looking back on each one, how things are the same, how things are different. All good.

It's all about the photographs, they tell the story so Here we go - Monday August 17th 2015 looked like this.

We start our week off at the lake at our cabin with my family here in Manitoba visiting from British Columbia. I loved that they are here for a part of this documentation as this is not our "normal" week at all (that would include lunches and school and drop offs - but we are on summer vacation) and I fought at first that this was not our routine, But it's NOT only about that but about "This" week right now in time where are we, what are we doing, that's all that mattered and that was great, it's not "normal" start of the week. 

I love this view, I love our time here out at our cabin. It's the solitude, the view, waking up to coffee and kayaking and sunrise.

Of course it's also about sleeping under the stars - this was my best shot of trying to capture a billions stars that Tyler and I woke up around 2am to see. This photo doesn't do it justice - they were beautiful.

Kayaking with Mom, each morning after our coffee we would gear up & paddle out to the point from the bay. It was a great exercise that I will miss (currently looking for a club locally) and the best conversations had between Mom and I are out on that water - I will always remember that. It's very hard with only seeing them maybe 2 times a year and I feel like we miss so much in each others lives, but do our best with technology (facetime) text, facebook. It's still not her here on the water with me though so this is what I remember the best until our next visit. Thanks Mom for being you! Thanks for hearing me understanding me and encouraging me. 

This is it, This is why I get into this Kayak and rock side to side - freak out + get my balance back then paddle out ... this view is the reason. 

Camp coffee tastes soooo much better!

We started to make breakfast once we got back to the shore, this time we cooked in my parents camper that they haul with them on their trips - they stay in here & my family stays in the cabin. I have to add that my Mom is the best camp cook there is and we encourage her to open a food truck once she retires from Nursing. Seriously.

Ava loves Gram's pancakes at the lake.

I keep up with my recording while enjoying another cup of coffee and explain to Mom what I'm doing (Week in the Life) she totally loves the idea and said she would do it, I encouraged her to try as she is also an avid journal-er. 

This is Jax my parents dog. He is 100% sweetheart - we adore him.

I Love the Anniversary flowers that Tyler picked out in the field for me the night before we went out together on the Quad for a ride he stopped by the hay bail & gave me a bouquet of Alfalfa, it was sweet. Happy 12 years married + 21 together! 

My dad gave Ethan a box of his old hockey cards - something that Ethan is very into right now so this was Huge in his eyes. 

Inside the kiddos and Tyler play a few card games as it was getting a little rainy outside.

Ava does a little painting.

Off to town for supplies and a little shop looking ...

I was super surprised to find 4$ handmade Thailand paper, I bought a print for Tyler's parents now wishing I bought a few more.

My Dad & Tyler on the roof of the cabin to do some small repairs to the chimney and shingles that were damaged from the winter.

Fish taco's for dinner - a first for me at camp ... here is my mothers food truck example, they were so good I had three! Ethan ate them but Ava wanted Hotdogs. Dad and Tyler had Bison burgers.

Week in the Life | 2015 the Album prep.

It's that time of year again, Week in the Life! Project created by my friend Ali Edwards who has been doing WITL for ten years now you can find out more info & how to order this kit on her site here. I highly recommend doing this project if you have never tried before, it is a great way to look at your everyday life from the "outside looking in" aspect. This year Ali set the date for August 17 2015 - August 23 2015.

The gear for this week is much the same of my regular everyday documenting, I do however plan on trying to use more of my big camera but still capturing things on my iphone 4s as that is my go to camera in general. I use my iphone 4s about 80% if not higher for PL it's a little higher this year but hoping to get a good mix of both for this project. It really doesn't matter what kind of camera you have to do this project - just that you take photos.

The kit! This year I purchased the kit from Ali and that is different for me because I like to "make" my own albums and through in papers and embellishments that I find, What made me change it up this year? THE KIT! Really it had everything I was looking for and more the design was PERFECT & well it saved me a ton of prep time.

Here is a shot of the whole kit opened up and this for me is the YES let's do this moment, The part where I get to dive in & make this a book! There are two album choices and I adored the "text" cover for me so here we go.

I am a big fan of the paper as always, but really the colours and the ... well the designs I love it and don't think I will need to add much to this kit at all.

Making it your own - as this is a kit and thousands will purchase the same one, you can still make it your own. I jumped right in with no pre plans on how I would take this on but once opened and had everything in my sight ... I quickly grabbed cut, stapled, trimmed, trimmed again and just kept going ....those transparent dividers up above got cut up and I am using them as 3x4 & 4x6 transparencies. 

The pocket that all our supplies came in was cut down to 2x2 & I used the day text portion of it for the front cover - I am using the 6x8 full page that is divided into  2x2 pockets as the cover page and end page.

The days from the transparent dividers I decided to cut them off and stapled to a trimmed down 6x8 with two 4x6 pockets to just one 4x6 and Stapled it back to the top.

Here is a closer look on how I am setting up my "layout" for the album, I love having this part all ready to "go" it is a huge time saver for later once you have all your photo's + that can be even more overwhelming.

1. The "opening page" or the starting off photo - this is a full 6x8 in this day (Wednesday) I might go full 6x8 or place a template from Ali's set - option is open. 

2. The 3x8 divider pockets that came with the kit, I am making those into the week's title page this one has the day on top and paper on the bottom ... but for other days I am adding in a full 3x8 photo in there. 

3. This is the 6x8 with two 4x6 pockets that I trimmed down and made one single 4x6 pocket. Either journaling or photo will go into this one. 

4. This is another 6x8 with four 3x4 pockets that I cut down to two 3x4 pockets for more journaling and photo's.

5. The "end page" for this day will go into these 3x4 pockets. You can see one of the transparencies I cut down top right with a wood veneer on top for good measure.

So far this works for me in the album and once we get to that point of adding in the photo's + words I don't think too much will change up. 

Title page - 6x8 with 2x2 pockets and transparencies, I also added in a sticker from my kit the page. 

There it is all ready to go next week - I know that for me this project on top of the PL documenting is so very rewarding, it's more in depth, more detailed and different in it's own way even though stories will be double told and shared in both books ... that's ok I want to remember all of it - from all views.
